Regulations in concrete industry

Abstract

Current regulations in the field of concrete-based constructions is analyzed in the paper. Possibilities for overcoming the current unfavorable situation are presented. The author's principal assertion is that the present legislation is outdated and that the specifications regarding basic properties are too lax. This assertion is illustrated by the current legislation and practices relating to construction in aggressive marine environment, which primarily concerns bridges on the Adriatic coast in Croatia that have been built over the past twenty-five years.
