Analysis of reinforced-concrete beams subjected to transverse force

Ivan Tomičić

Abstract

The procedure for analyzing rectangular and T section beams subjected to transverse force, based on latest research and standard method provisions, is presented. After explanation of analyses used, the author recommends that an alternative standard method be allowed in national appendix, in addition to free selection of compressive member inclination angle as presented in the European Standard EN 1992-1-1. The results obtained in the example presented in this paper show that this recommendation is highly justified.
