Dynamic analysis of structures resting on highly-elastic bearings

Abstract

Principal theoretical and experimental information relating to the use of highly-elastic bearings in the insulation of buildings against vibratory and seismic action, is presented. Design guidelines and requirements for practical application are proposed. Based on many years of his own research, the author recommends close cooperation between the designer and manufacturer as an optimum precondition for successful use of such bearings. The use of hysteresis curve to control dynamic properties of elastomeric bearings is presented.
