Cement production and sustainable development

Abstract

The significant role of cement production in overall sustainable development is manifested in the use of alternative materials in order to achieve the highest possible ecological balance while maintaining optimum acceptability criteria for the cement and construction industry. The analysis of technological and market changes in the production and use of cement in most European countries as compared with Croatia, points to possible savings with respect to natural sources of energy, raw materials and greenhouse gas emission.
