Properties of concrete for tunnel lining based on the minimum cracking criterion

Ivana Banjad Pečur

Abstract

The study of composition and properties of concrete as required to meet the minimum cracking criterion in secondary tunnel linings is presented. The laboratory testing was conducted in a specially devised apparatus for testing concrete under various climatic conditions, and in accordance with standardized procedures. The results show that concrete composition should be adjusted for summer and winter concreting conditions. The cracking can be limited through addition of latex and fibres, and by the construction of lining without sudden changes of thickness.
