Unification of the west Sisak sewerage system

Mladen Kardum

Abstract

Sisak does not have an integrated sewerage system that would include a treatment facility, and so the effluent is directly discharged, at several points, into the Odra, Kupa and Sava rivers. This has resulted in frequent bacteriological pollution of the Kupa River in the very centre of the town. In an attempt to improve the current sewerage system, the authorities have so far built drainage sewers that collect waste water in the Sisak Novi zone and carry it downstream, away from the centre of the town. In the future, these sewers will carry the entire town's waste water towards the purification plant.
