Acceptability of subway construction in Zagreb

Davorin Kolić, Vjekoslav Kolić

Abstract

Authors start by asserting that first ideas about subway construction were formulated 25 years ago and that arguments in relation to this project have remained unchanged to this day. Technical solutions for underground structures are described, and a particular emphasis is placed on the most sensitive portion of the project: the Sava river crossing. In that respect, the solution involving bridge construction is suggested. Financial aspects of the overall undertaking are analyzed taking into account solutions applied in other countries, particularly those used in the city of Munich. It is emphasized that the price will greatly be influenced by the domestic cost of labor and materials.
