Foundations for structures on improved soil

Robert Gotić, Ivan Gotić

Abstract

Deep vibration-based compaction procedures, as used in building foundations in cohesionless soil, are described. Theoretical background data are presented, application limits are defined and framework is set for interpretation of geotechnical parameters after improvement of foundation soil. Methods used for checking foundation soil after improvement are presented on a concrete example. The notion of "shallow foundations on improved soil" is introduced and the analysis of foundation soil is performed for cohesive and cohesionless soils.
