Design of thin-walled trapezoidal profiles exposed to bending action

Abstract

Procedures for designing trapezoidally shaped cross-sections of thin steel sheets according to DIN 18807 and Eurocode 3, are analyzed. The effective cross section is considered instead of the gross cross section. Calculated values of cross-sectional resistance are compared with cross-sectional resistance values obtained by laboratory testing of trapezoidal sheets produced by a domestic manufacturer. Safety checks involving partial safety factors (EC3) and global safety factor (DIN 18807) are commented on.
